Blown-In Density Measurement Case Set – Precise On-Site Insulation Testing

The Blown-In Density Measurement Case Set is the ideal solution for checking the installed density of insulation materials directly on the construction site. It combines precision with durability and is especially suitable for cellulose, wood fiber, or other blown-in insulation materials.

Thanks to its compact design, the measuring device is not only easy to transport but also simple to use – even under varying site conditions.

Why Is Blown-In Density So Important?

A consistent blown-in density is essential for the thermal insulation performance and settlement stability of the material.
Therefore, verifying the installed density afterward is crucial – particularly for prefabricated components or hard-to-reach areas.

In addition, the Blown-In Density Measurement Case Set allows for quick and reliable bulk density determination – right on-site.
The required material amount can be found in the compaction tables provided by the respective manufacturers. For prefabricated elements that are transported afterward, 7 kg/m³ must be added according to the ETA.

How the Blown-In Density Measurement Case Set can be used – Step by Step

Preparation

  • Carefully drill a hole in the wood fiberboard using the hole saw (Ă˜â€¯105 mm)

  • Alternatively: Cut a 120 Ă— 120 mm square in the vapor barrier foil

Procedure

  1. Place the test tube on the precision scale and tare it

  2. Insert the tube into the insulation layer while rotating slowly

  3. Once it reaches the outer layer, remove the tube

  4. Measure the insulation depth using the measuring tape

  5. Weigh the filled test tube again

  6. Determine bulk density using the provided table

  7. For other insulation thicknesses, convert accordingly

This provides you with all data needed for standard-compliant evaluation.

Legal Requirements & Documentation

According to the European Technical Assessment (ETA), a calculated bulk density assessment is mandatory.
Therefore, a measurement protocol must be prepared and attached in original form to the invoice, then handed over to the building owner.
